|
Overview:
The Systems Engineer/Specialist for Middleware will be responsible for Service Design, Integration, Transitioning and Delivery of Web Services utilizing the latest middleware technologies. This role requires extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with hardware and configuration of OS, and needs to be fully conversant with HP P and C Class Hardware, Blades, Virtual Connects, iSCSI and Fiber Access.
The Systems Engineer will work under the general direction of the Technical Services Team Lead. This person will be working within a dynamic team of individuals who are responsible for multi-tiered and multi-faceted environments with various architectures delivering brokerage applications in an ASP organization.
Responsibilities:
•Service Design: Capacity management, availability management, continuity management and security management within a database environment.
•Service Transition: Transition planning & support, change management, configuration management, validation & testing and continual service improvement.
•Service Management: Providing a wealth of management information resulting in increased service design processes, efficiencies and effectiveness (identification of trends, weaknesses, and areas of opportunities).
•Documentation: Creating and documenting via logical and physical diagrams.
•Problem Management: Taking ownership of assigned problems, analyzing incident records, identifying trends or significant problems for further investigation and taking the problem through its life-cycle.

Qualifications Required:

Technical Skills:
Required: Support of HP P and C-Class Hardware, Enterprise VMware, Linux Redhat. Configuration of Blade Systems/Technologies, Virtual Connects, fiber pass-throughs, networking and iSCSI & Fiber Access.
Nice To Have: OS Networking in an ASP Environment, networking security, DNS middleware, SNMP monitoring, MRTG, load-balancing, Facilities (Environment (fire suppression, power, HVAC, physical & system security)
Education, Certification and/or Relevant
Experience:
•Graduate of an accredited college or university with major studies in Engineering or related fields.
•Minimum of seven to ten years.
•Certification in UNIX or Linux.
Experience:
•System Support (VMware, Linux Redhat).
•Management Monitoring Tools (ex. Cacti, MRTG & Syslog) and System Monitoring Tools (ex. SNMP protocol V1, V2, V3, MRTG, SIM and Openview).
•Design and support of proprietary ASP application architecture including redundant servers and network access for high availability.
•Analysis, Design, Testing, Implementation, Monitoring and Operation of high availability, 24x7 production, and non-production Applications Engineering middleware technologies according to published policies and procedures.
•L3 Support: Troubleshoot infrastructure related issues in coordination with peers and other delivery departments (Internal and external).
•Contributing to future application successes by providing appropriate input into new technologies, risks and implementations, and by providing research and development of such new concepts and technologies.
•Measurement, design and implementation of management reporting of key performance metrics designed to illustrate performance and reliability of middleware, and provide planning and reasonable capacity assessment of existing infrastructure.
