|
JOB PURPOSE
Reporting to the Service Support Manager, the Computer Operator will deliver exceptional operational support as part of the Operations Team within the Technical Services Department. Taking ownership of regular operations functions, this associate will be responsible for proactively resolving critical issues affecting our products & services and assist with the implementation, configuration, and testing of new products & technologies. This associate will demonstrate initiative, flexibility, and responsiveness in completing tasks. Shift work, 24x7 availability, and out-of-office support are required.
KEY JOB FUNCTIONS •Daily technical support for operations functions •Daily resolution of issues affecting availability & efficiency of the production environment – networks, systems, middleware, databases, and applications •Daily resolution of incidents affecting production services – real-time processing and routine batch processing •Identification, Classification and Escalation of Incidents, Critical Incidents, Services Requests •Maintain library of operations scripts and write new scripts for new operations functions •Maintain library of internal documentation and write new technical end-user documentation
TECHNICICAL SKILLS •UNIX Administration (System V, BSD), Linux, UNIX Programming & Scripting (sh, csh, bash, tcl, awk, perl, java), C/C++, SNMP, HTTP, HTTPS, SSH1, SSH2, FTP, SFTP, FTPS, NDM, CIFS, SMTP, POP, sendmail, & MS Windows platform
ASSETS •Progress DBA V9 & OpenEdge V10 RDBMS, Application Server, Management and Replication on HP-UX 11i, ODBC, SQL •HP-UX PA-RISC & Integrity Servers 11i Enterprise, ServiceGuard ED (Campus Cluster), MP, BC •HP VA/EVA/MSA SAN’s, MSL Tape Library’s, Optical Juke Boxes, FC Fabrics, Veritas Netbackup •Dataphile product suite – Dataphile Desktop, ExeClear, ExeNet, ProPhile, RapidPhire & OpenView •Other brokerage systems (electronic trading systems or back office systems)
SOFT SKILLS •Adaptable, outgoing, professional, and willing to take initiative •Learn new technologies & processes quickly and mentor others •Prioritize & multi-task in a stressful, fast paced environment with a large volume of problem logs •Work effectively alone or as part of a multi-discipline team to complete tasks within tight deadlines •Service oriented with outstanding Customer Service skills •Communicate effectively and precisely with clients, vendors, and across all levels of the organization in verbal and written English

QUALIFICATIONS •Must have a minimum college level diploma or technical certification in the IT field plus 2 years relevant work experience •Proficiency with UNIX programming & scripting •Be accurate, have good attention to detail, and strong problem analysis & problem solving skills •Must have hardware & software maintenance experience and proven troubleshooting & technical support skills •Any experience in IBM mainframe OS/MVS environment will be considered a plus JOB INFORMATION •Full-time position 40 hours/week, plus benefits and paid vacation •Shift work, 24x7 availability & out-of-office support are required •Overtime & on call support will be required from time to time
